I projected the Jacksonville Jaguars at 12-4 and winners of the AFC South, but they seemed to really fall off a cliff this year. The Jaguars never seemed to find their footing this year and saw themselves out of the playoff picture. So why was it that they lost their footing this year?
The Seattle Seahawks finished the season at 10-6 and got themselves to a Wild Card berth. They wound up losing to the Dallas Cowboys 24-22 but for a team that wasn’t supposed to do much, they had a nice season. What can they do to topple the Rams this year in the NFC West?
We all know how the New Orleans Saints had their season come to an end. Personally, as a Saints fan, I could write a thousand-word article on how they got screwed, but that’s water under the bridge at this point. Let’s take a look at their season and what they need to do to take the next step to the big game in 2019.
The Los Angeles Chargers finished last season with a 12-4 record. Injuries caught up to the Chargers yet again, Jason Verrett and Hunter Henry were both out during the regular season. Denzel Perryman went down mid-season, Brandon Mebane had terrible news. His newborn child passed away, which forced him to miss a few games, and that was completely understandable. But, the Chargers were able to find the next man up every time. Derwin James can easily be a franchise player; Chargers have great young talent to build on, including veterans who can lead them to a possible Super Bowl run, led by Philip Rivers.
Coming into 2018, the Panthers were three years removed from their Super Bowl loss to the Broncos. They made the playoffs last season but were defeated by the Saints in a great game. There was so much promise going into this season. For a while, it looked like the Panthers could be a contender for the Super Bowl. They ended up missing the playoffs and now their star quarterback has a potentially serious injury.
Kansas City was a must watch team all year. They were also a must watch team in the news with a busy offseason that began the week of the Super Bowl. They reached many highs during the season but they also had several low points, unfortunately, both on and off the field. All in all the Chiefs had a very entertaining year start to finish.
