Week six of the NHL Weekly Roundup is here! Touching on last week’s headlines, the Pittsburgh Penguins are fighting through injuries and keeping up the pace going 2-1 on the week where most of the issues are actually coming from their goalie play. The Edmonton Oilers top two stars are keeping up their pace as discussed last week, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl put up three and four points respectively this past week.
Week five of the NHL Weekly Roundup is here! This week we saw teams near the bottom of the league starting to pick up the pace and put together win after win, and some of the teams higher on the boards showing their weaknesses and dropping in the rankings. Continue reading →
We did fairly well in identifying top options on Tuesday, let’s see if we can repeat on another full 13 games in the NHL. Welcome to the third edition of the NHL Weekly Roundup. Well, John Tavares is back! In Tavares’ second game back for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the star forward scored the game-winning overtime goal against the Vegas Golden Knights. Last week’s team on the rise, the St Louis Blues, stayed hot winning all three of their matches for the week, and if you got the chance to watch my game of the week you enjoyed a great one with the Boston Bruins beating the Pittsburg Penguins 6-4. Sadly though I’m not always going to be right, the Buffalo Sabres continued slipping as they lost both of their games this past week. Here were are on a nice Tuesday night, and we have a solid eight-game slate to tackle. For now, I will note that NHL scheduling makes it so Monday, Wednesday, and often Friday are only going to have two to four games on the slate at most. For the time being, we will make sure we have content out for the big slates on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Dale Money | August 22nd, 2019 There is no question the New York Islanders exceeded all expectations, with the loss of cornerstone forward John Tavares. A good reason for that surprise success can be attributed to the direction of both Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz. Trotz’s 48 wins were the most he has achieved, in his first season with any one team. Helping lead the Islanders to a first-round home-ice berth, they’re first since 1988. They would have a terrific opening round where they knocked off the Pittsburgh Penguins in four, before bowing out to the Carolina Hurricanes.
