Opening Day = National Holiday

Joe Hines | March 23rd, 2019

It’s a mere 5 days until the real opening day, with apologies to the Mariners and Athletics. For those of you under the age of 50, MLB at one time had a traditional opening day and game, featuring the Cincinnati Reds. I miss those days. I also think the designated hitter is an abomination, to paraphrase Crash Davis. So you can surmise my feelings on the impending implementation of the DH in the National League. I offer my own solution to the imbalance between leagues, abolish the DH altogether.

Los Angeles Angels: 2019 Season Preview

Marcos Mendoza | March 22nd, 2019

Recap: 80-82 (4th AL West)

The Los Angeles Angels had a disappointing season in 2018. They finished under .500 and they weren’t really in contention in 2018. They made big acquisitions last offseason acquiring OF/SP Shohei Ohtani via FA, SS Zack Cozart via FA, and Justin Upton via Trade. The Angels dealt with major injuries in their pitching staff throughout the 2018 season and ultimately it led to their fall in 2018. Continue reading

Baltimore Orioles 2019 Preview

Daniel Corrigan | March 21st, 2019

If we are being honest, all I have to do is say “yikes” and that would be my preview of this team. Just an absolutely terrible ball-club. So how were they this past season? 47-115 and finished dead last in the AL East for the second straight year. This will be a painful process, but let’s take a look at what the Orioles will field this season.

Alex Kielar | March 20th, 2019

The deal, as per multiple sources, is 12 years long, which could keep the greatest player of this generation, if not of all-time, with the Angels for the rest of his career.

Five Dark Horse Cy Young candidates

Matt O’Halloran | March 19th, 2019

If you asked 100 MLB fans who the Cy-Young winners will be this year, a good amount will give you some combination of Chris Sale, Blake Snell, Justin Verlander, Jacob deGrom, or Max Scherzer. All of those players have a solid chance at taking home the award, but let’s take a look at five candidates who could surprise some people this year.

Houston Astros: 2019 Season Preview

Givanni Damico | March 18th, 2019

The Houston Astros couldn’t pull off the repeat last year. That doesn’t mean they are going away any time soon. They are still among baseball’s elite teams and look to grab another ring before their window closes.
