Heading into the 2019 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ future looked bright. They just signed Nick Foles for $88 million dollars. Foles was expected to be everything the Jaguars needed to make a playoff push and return to their 2017 form. That quickly changed when Foles was nearly immediately injured in week one. After that, rookie Gardner Minshew took over. Although Minshew did very good for a rookie thrown into a bad situation, it still wasn’t enough.
As the end of the regular season approaches, analysts and fans alike are brainstorming all the different ways that their teams could somehow capitalize on their 1% chance at the playoffs. But to take your mind off of that for a moment, let’s look back at the rookie performers who dazzled in week 15 of the NFL season. This week was offensively heavy as several running backs are looking to make their mark as the season comes to a close. However, a few household defensive names continue to impress. Let us proceed now into these rankings starting, as always, with a couple of honorable mentions.
Getting all three phases on the same page has been a real issue for the Chargers this year. Week 14 gives the Bolts their best chance of a ‘W’ before their season concludes. There are several ways to sum up the Chargers this season. A frustrating string of close losses is an enigma. For example, Mike Williams leads the NFL in yards per catch over the last four weeks, but he hasn’t found the End Zone. An explosive offense is missing, especially in the running game.
