Colts GM Chris Ballard Deserves More Credit

Following a disappointing 2016 campaign, the Colts decided to cut ties with General Manager Ryan Grigson. Grigson had taken a Colts team with a bunch of young, talented players and turned the team upside down. After multiple blunders, including the trade for Trent Richardson, the Colts had finally made the decision that left many players thankful. To the point where Punter Pat McAfee tweeted “Thank God” after being notified of Grigson’s firing. On January 29, 2017, the Colts made the decision to hire Chris Ballard as the new general manager.

Indianapolis Colts 2019 Team Preview

Coming off a very disappointing 2017 season, where franchise quarterback Andrew Luck didn’t take a single snap as he recovered from a complex shoulder injury, the Indianapolis Colts’ started the 2018 season 1-6, including an overtime loss to the Houston Texans. However, Luck shook off the year long rust and the defense picked it’s game up around Defensive Rookie of the Year, Darius Leonard. The Colts to won nine of their last 10 games, including a win over the Tennessee Titans on the final night of the regular season. With a 10-6 record, the Colts got the final wild-card spot in the AFC and defeated the Texans 21-7 in the first round of the playoffs, but fell to the Kansas City Chiefs the next weekend, losing 31-13.

NFL Rookie Hype List: Hit or Miss?

With 32 teams in the midst of regular-season preparation via training camp practices, we often see the hype for rookies spin out of control. It seems like every year without fail, NFL Twitter gets a hold of a couple clips of a corner making a nice interception, or a running back juking a linebacker and leaving them in the dust, and proclaims them as the next great thing. I’m here to look at seven players that were drafted in April that have seen a ton of chatter, and to give my predictions on if they will prove worthy from day one.

It’s no secret how bad the Colts offensive line was in 2017 – they allowed 56 sacks and forced their quarterbacks to constantly run for their lives every play. They were rated the worst offensive line by many of the NFL’s experts, and the offensive line was a focal point of improvement that the Colts needed to make to keep their newly healthy QB Andrew Luck on his feet.
