Sugar Bowl Preview

Pranav Ramasubramanian | January 1st, 2019

The Sugar Bowl is not part of the College Football Playoff semifinal this year, but it’s still a good bowl to be in as it features the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, who are 11-2 and the fifteenth ranked Texas Longhorns, who are 9-4. Two big name schools and some great coaching makes this game a must-watch chess game as there will be a lot of schematics left and right and it will surely be a bloodbath till the end with all the positional talent.

“The Grand Daddy of them All” – Keith Jackson

We all grew up hearing the legendary tone of Keith Jackson on ABC as we all tuned in to watch the Rose Bowl and start the new year off right. Now I’m only 24 so my earliest and favorite Rose Bowl memory has to be when Texas faced off against USC in 2006. Vince Young made his immortal run to the end zone on fourth down to give Texas the win. Coincidently it was also Jackson’s last time calling the Rose Bowl.

Fiesta Bowl Preview

Central Florida will take on the LSU Tigers in a Fiesta Bowl showdown on New Year’s Day. The Knights come into this match, feeling very bitter, having been left out of the Playoff, even after going undefeated for the second consecutive season. LSU has something to play for as well. The Tigers are seeking their first 10-win season since 2013.

VRBO Citrus Bowl Preview

Christopher Dinkins | January 1st, 2019

I knew there was a bowl game that I forgot about, it used to be known as the Tangerine Bowl, which was turned into the Florida Citrus Bowl in 1983. WOW !!!!…Where was I ?? Because I clearly remember the Capital One Bowl from 2001 until 2014, and then it was CompUSA, Ourhouse.com, and then it was sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings a couple of years ago. Overton’s sponsored the game in 2018, now it is sponsored by VRBO, a vacation rental marketplace and will be hereby known as (for now) the VRBO Citrus Bowl. And out of all of the non-College Football Playoff bowl games, this game has the highest payout per team at $4.25 million. That’s more money for the Big Ten and Southeast Conferences, Now that we got the identifications out of the way, it’s time to discuss this game.

Upstarts N.C. State and Texas A&M will take the field in Jacksonville on Monday night to finish off the 2018 College Football year. Prior to accepting the gig in College Station, Jimbo Fisher beat N.C. State 5 out of 8 times when he was the Florida State head honcho.
