It has been an interesting journey for the former 2010 first overall draft pick. At the height of his tenure with the New Jersey Devils was an MVP season in 2017/2018 where he registered career highs in goals(39), assists(54), and points(93). This was of course followed by the Devils trading the dynamic winger for middling prospects and conditional draft picks to the Arizona Coyotes just two-and-a-half seasons later. All of this taking place after starting his career with the Edmonton Oilers for six seasons starting in 2010. Hall fell out of favor in Edmonton and in Jersey and didn’t hold back his displeasure with each organization on more than one occasion. With a Hart Trophy and two all-star game selections in his back pocket Hall is set to hit the free-agent market this summer. Let’s take a closer look at the 28-year-old native from Calgary Alberta.
In the NHL’s Pacific Division, it’s been a bumpy ride all year long, with the top of the division and fifth place in the division being separated by only eight points. The contending teams are The Vegas Golden Knights, the Edmonton Oilers, the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Arizona Coyotes. All of those teams are in order from division leader to fifth. Only three teams can make it to the playoffs as a division qualifier, and one or two could make it as a wild card qualifier. It’s time to map out who will make it and who will falter down the stretch.

The NHL Weekly Roundup is back again as we witnessed another amazing week in the NHL full of big performances, upsets, and sadly… injuries. If you took my advice for games of the week you saw David Perron score a hat trick in a 5-2 St Louis Blues win over the rival Colorado Avalanche. In the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, we were treated to seeing Evgeni Malkin score his 400th goal. Finally, the New York Islanders vs. Boston Bruins didn’t disappoint as the match had to be settled with a shootout in which the Islanders took the victory. Now, let’s hit around the rest of the league, here are my three stars of the week. Continue reading →
The question of where Taylor Hall will land next continues, with a strong belief among many that Hall will be dealt to another club before the Christmas roster freeze. So far this season he has posted very adequate numbers, collecting 25 points in 30 games played which leads the New Jersey Devils.
Week five of the NHL Weekly Roundup is here! This week we saw teams near the bottom of the league starting to pick up the pace and put together win after win, and some of the teams higher on the boards showing their weaknesses and dropping in the rankings. Continue reading →
