This past week, the NBA had the mid-season trade deadline, and as such, trades happened! Who woulda thunk?
At The Scorecrow, trade deadlines and draft days are our equivalent of a national holiday, so when the NBA’s largest trade in two decades went down to start the madness, we all just got drunk instead of doing our jobs and writing things. Sorry Johnnie.

Welcome Back, Hoop heads! We take a deeper look into some of the must-see games this week. Stay tuned! With Monday having a full slate of games on MLK Day, I wanted to take a look at some of the other most intriguing matchups this week as we are close to the end of January and are gearing up toward the All-Star break in a few weeks.
Despite being less than a month old, the 2018-19 NBA season has not been short of drama. We’ve had breakout stars, surprise teams, sensational, even tear-jerking individual performances, and a punch-up between two of league’s highest-profile teams. Now, just when it appeared that the dust had settled after frantic opening few weeks, the basketball world has been turned upside down once again, with All-Star Jimmy Butler being traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Philadelphia 76ers. It was never going to be a dull season, was it?
Only four years ago, the Minnesota Timberwolves looked as though they would become a newfound story of success as opposed to the regular story of sorrow. After failing to make the playoffs with Kevin Love at the helm, the Wolves traded for draft darling Andrew Wiggins to begin ushering in a new era of Minnesota basketball. Garnering comparisons to Tracy McGrady, the Minnesota faithful were excited for their young star to lead their once-successful franchise for years to come.
