Early 2020 Wins and Losses Projections: AFC South

The AFC South is a chaotic division year after year, with each team having its own hot streak. This past year, we’ve seen two superstars depart the division in DeAndre Hopkins and Jalen Ramsey, both adding to the mystery of who will win the division next. Each team has its own question that they must answer, in order to find success. Overall, this division is unpredictable year to year, and with the 2020 schedule set, there will be some interesting games to watch. With that said, this is an eight-part series where our Scorecrow NFL analysts do an early prediction of the wins and losses of each team. We projected all 256 games and have the winners and losers of each division!

The NFC West is one of the most difficult divisions to predict. Last year, the fast rise of the 49ers took the league by storm, whereas in 2018 the Rams were able to maintain their dominant streak. Will there be another change at the top of the division? With the 2020 schedule set, there are some significant games each NFC West team will play. The NFC East arguably has some of the most passionate fans in the NFL. It also has some of the weirdest divisional games, which are always unpredictable. The four teams each have a young quarterback of which makes every game exciting. While the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles have each won the division twice in the past four years, the Giants and Redskins are starting to accumulate talent. With the 2020 schedule set, there are some significant games each NFC East team will play. Is this the beginning of a new dynasty? With the Super Bowl winning Kansas City Chiefs, not losing any pieces, it will be difficult for the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers to compete with them. However, the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers, each made strides to improve their offenses. This division has the potential for some close and meaningful games to determine who makes the playoffs. With the 2020 schedule set, there are some significant games each AFC West team will play. The NFC North has had three different divisional winners in the past three years. Each year it seems that the balance of power shifts from one team to another in the north, as each of the four teams excels in an important part of the game. Overall, this is one of the most complete divisions in terms of talent and depth on each team, meaning each game will be very close. Additionally, there is an extra playoff wildcard spot, where the north could see three of its teams in the playoffs. With that said, this is an eight-part series where our Scorecrow NFL analysts do an early prediction of the wins and losses of each team. With the departure of Tom Brady, and the rise of young quarterbacks- Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, and Tua Tagovailoa – the division looks to be promising and entertaining for years to come. The NFC South is arguably one of the most offensive driven divisions. As well, each offense has improved over the offseason, but the biggest addition is Tom Brady. With Brady and other quarterbacks like Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Teddy Bridgewater, the division has no clear winner. With the extra playoff spot open, this division could have three teams compete in the playoffs. With the 2020 schedule set, there are some significant games each NFC South team will play. With the return of Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers may return to their old winning form. The AFC North division has some of the best rivalries and hardest-hitting football which always makes for close games. Additionally, there is an extra playoff spot, of which means the AFC North could see three of its teams in the playoffs.
