The Nashville Predators were expected to be the buyers on the Trade Deadline. They didn’t fail to meet these expectations as the Preds made a huge splash to acquire two key pieces. One of those of awaited one, the second one caught some fans by surprise.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are still trying to upgrade their defense. That is nothing new or surprising. Earlier in January, they pulled the trigger and acquiredJake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings. The Leafs gave up their first-round draft pick in order to gain Muzzin. Nevertheless, Toronto is still seeking for a right-handed defenseman, as Muzzin is left-handed one. They may not be even close to done with scouting the trade market.
The Anaheim Ducks have finally made THE decision. After losing 18 of their last 20 games and dropping all to way to the bottom of the Western Conference, the Ducks fired their head coach Randy Carlyle. That’s the first step, but what about the other steps?
Tomas Tatar is experiencing a rejuvenation season with the Montreal Canadiens to say at least. Tatar was traded last summer from the Vegas Golden Knights in a deal, which included former Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty going to Las Vegas. Tatar was struggling a lot last year. Started the season with the Detroit Red Wings, which picked him as the 60th overall player from the second round of the 2009 NHL Draft.
Tonight, we will see one special game in the NHL. The New York Rangers are hosting the Los Angeles Kings at the Madison Square Garden. At first glance, you would maybe think, that it’s not an attractive game at all. You would be probably right. Both the Rangers and the Kings are far away from the playoff contention. However, they played together in the Stanley Cup finals from five years back. Those times seem to be long forgotten by both fanbases.
A Second blockbuster deal during the current season has been made. After Jake Muzzin was acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Los Angeles Kings, one of the biggest trade baits is off the charts too. Pittsburgh Penguins traded Derick Brassard and Riley Sheahan to the Florida Panthers for a couple of centers, Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann, a couple of fourth-round draft picks and one second-round draft pick in 2019 NHL Draft.
