Player Spotlight: Malcolm Brogdon

Coach Treal | March 23rd, 2019

This week I have decided to shine the spotlight on the Milwaukee Bucks third year combo-guard Malcolm Brogdon. As I begin putting this entire article together Malcolm, unfortunately, he received an MRI and has been diagnosed with a minor plantar fascia tear. The expectation is that he will be sidelined six-to-eight weeks according to most media reports. This is a crucial blow to not only Malcolm who was in the midst of one of a historical season but to the Bucks as well. He hopes to be back in action sometime in the playoffs depending on how far the team can go with him on the shelf.

Player Spotlight: John Collins

Coach Treal | February 28th, 2019

It is hard to have a time frame on when a player is showing you something more than they did the previous season or previous game. Second-year Atlanta Hawks Forward John Collins has done just that with his play in his sophomore season. His hard work and improvements haven’t gone unnoticed as he was selected to take part in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge Game and made his debut in the Slam Dunk Contest as part of the All-Star weekend.

Player Spotlight: Nikola Vučević

Coach Treal | February 6th, 2019

What a season for the 8th year pro out of USC and current Orlando Magic big man Nikola Vucevic. Don’t get me wrong, Nikola has been more than a solid player during his career which shows by his production with career averages of 15ppg along with 10rpg. But, in particular this season, right before he is set to become a free agent, he has taken his game up another level by posting career highs of 20ppg, 12rpg & 4apg. His hard work has not only been noticed by me because just this past week he was named to his first NBA All-Star Game being selected as a reserve. The hard work that Vooch has put into his game was recognized this season as he has had a very solid career thus far. He has even expanded his game like many big men have had to do in today’s NBA to able to stay on the court and is shooting a career-high 37% from the three-point line this season. By adding a new dimension to his already impressive offensive package, he becomes harder to defend and game plan for and also more attractive to teams looking to add him either via trade or this off-season thru free agency.  Winning is the only thing missing right now from his resume, and getting his team to a playoff appearance is the next step for him at this point in his career.

Player Spotlight: Julius Randle

Coach Treal | February 3rd, 2019

What a journey it has been so far for first-year Pelicans player and fifth-year pro Julius Randle up until this point in his career. Julius came into the league after a very successful lone season at Kentucky where he posted 15 ppg and 10 rpg going all the way to the National Championship game before losing to UConn.

Player Spotlight: Pascal Siakam

Coach Treal | January 18th, 2019

What an incredible story and ride for the 24-year-old Pascal Siakam, in his third season in the NBA after being a first-round pick (2016 Draft – Pick 27th) out of New Mexico State. After a solid career with the Aggies that saw him win WAC Freshman of the Year and then, the following season, win WAC Player of the Year before he decided to forgo his last two years and enter the NBA draft. His rookie season in the league was all over the place to me as he saw action in 55 games total and actually started 38 games that saw him average 4ppg. But he also saw a lot of playing time with the Raptors’ G-League affiliate Raptors 905 where they won the then D-League Champion with Pascal being named the Finals MVP in the process.
