The Cardinals had at least one more positive COVID-19 test, forcing their game against the Cubs tonight to be postponed. Other than that, every other team in the league is in action tonight, with 13 games under the main 7:05 pm est slate. I will give you players from that slate as well as the short slates.
Main Slate: Trevor Bauer ($10,600)
Bauer is off to a very impressive start for the Reds this season, as he has given up just one run (home run), four hits, and three walks in two starts over 13.1 innings while striking out 20. He faces a Brewers lineup that is batting just .220 with a .662 OPS thus far.
Short Slate (6:05 pm est): Masahiro Tanaka ($11,000)
Masa only lasted 2.2 innings in his first start this season against the Red Sox on August 1 after coming back from his head injury, but he only surrendered one earned run and struck out three. After being eased back in last time out, he should get a longer leash against a lineup he does pretty well against. The Rays lineup is hitting just .211 with a .668 OPS so far with only two starters hitting over .280.
Main Slate: Miguel Sano ($4,600)
It has been a struggling start for Sano so far, but he hit a three-run homer for his third home run of the season last night. He has struck out on 49 percent of his 35 plate appearances but has hit the ball hard with a 52.9% hard-hit rate. He and the Twins face Jakob Junis and the Royals. Sano has gone 3-for-9 with two homers off Junis in his career.
Short Slate: Gary Sanchez ($6,500)
El Kraken is another hitter who has started off slow, but he did break out for his first homer of the year last night of Nick Pivetta. Sanchez and the Yankees also get to see one of their favorite pitchers tonight in Blake Snell, who he has gone 5-for-19 with four homers, seven RBIs, and five walks against in his career. Tonight would as good a night as ever for him to really start to get hot.
New York Yankees
Sanchez isn’t the only Yankees’ hitter who has Snell’s number, as DJ LeMahieu has gone 6-for-13 against him while four other hitters have hit a homer against him (Gleyber Torres, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, Brett Gardner).
The Nats play the Orioles and Tommy Milone tonight who has given up five runs in eight innings pitched this season. Only three Washington hitters have faced him, with Howie Kendrick going 12-for-32 and two homers against him. Starlin Castro is 5-for-8 against him.
