Every NFL season is full of surprises. Last year it was the emergence of Lamar Jackson and the Tennessee Titans making it to the AFC Championship game. After one of the craziest offseasons and drafts to date, this year is going to be full of surprises. Here we will look at five unthinkable things that could possibly happen this upcoming season.
The San Francisco 49ers Miss the Playoffs
While most NFC teams got significantly better this offseason, the 49ers made little adjustments to their team. With the Arizona Cardinals acquiring DeAndre Hopkins and Kyler Murray now has some NFL experience, the 49ers may even finish third in their division. The 49ers lost both Emmanuel Sanders and DeForest Buckner, both of who were key players on their team last season. Even with the additional playoff team added this year, the NFC is a very strong conference and if Jimmy Garoppolo does not take the next step, the 49ers could see themselves on the outside looking in.
Tyrod Taylor Leads the Los Angeles Chargers to the Division Title
That’s right, the Taylor led Chargers win the AFC West. After having an impressive stint with the Bills from 2015-2017, Taylor never really had a true chance to lead a team. In 2018 he was the Cleveland Browns starter until Baker Mayfield took over. Last year with Philip Rivers, the Kansas City Cheifs swept the Chargers, but both games were competitive. With Taylor at quarterback, expect the Chargers to be a more explosive offense. The Chargers also have an amazing supporting cast for Taylor with players such as Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler, and Hunter Henry to go along with a potential top-five defense. If the injury bug does not hit the Chargers as bad as it normally does, expect them to make the playoffs and potentially a deep run into them.

Jake Fromm Takes Over the Starting Job in Buffalo
As many of you saw, Josh Allen was not the best in the final moments of the Buffalo Bills playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

That being said, with the amount of talent on the Bills roster, including new acquisition Stefon Diggs, the coaches and front office of Buffalo are expecting Allen to make the next jump and to make the playoffs once again. Not only will Allen not exceed expectations, but perform poorly that he will be benched for rookie Fromm. Now I do not know when Fromm will take over, but I do believe that he will be the starter at some point this season.
The Washington Redskins Sneak into the Playoffs
With a new coaching staff and a loaded front seven, the Redskins could make a push for the seventh seed in the NFC. This all depends if Dwayne Haskins can take the next step and prove he can be a successful quarterback. Washington has plenty of playmakers around him in Terry McLaurin, Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson, to go along with promising rookies Antonio Gibson and Antonio Gandy-Golden. If Ron Rivera is able to iron out the wrinkles in Washington’s offense, do not be surprised if they go from one of the worst teams to a playoff team.
Tom Brady Wins MVP and Super Bowl MVP
Brady had an “off year” last season. Many fans and analyses think that his career is over and there is no more “Brady magic”. In his first season in Tampa, he breaks the record for most passing yards and most touchdowns in a single season. The Buccaneers are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and might be Brady’s most talented team since the 2007 season.
Having Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rob Gronkowski as his main pass catchers seems unfair. In addition to that, Brady is with coach Bruce Arians, who is known for making his quarterbacks great. Not only will Brady be lights out week in and week out, but the Buccaneers defense will also be a disruptive unit. Having an action-packed offense and stout defense will lead the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory which they will be the first team to play (and win) the Super Bowl in their home city.
