Everyone likes free money. Sports gambling has swept the nation, and its time to take advantage of this expert mind (I’m 2-0 since I have been keeping record…..humblebrag.) I will be giving out my over of the week, my lock of the week, my underdog of the week, and my future bet. Let’s get rich.
Life is Too Short to Bet The Under, Over of the Week: Capitals at Blues O/U +5.5
It is banner night in St. Louis. The Blues won their first ever Stanley Cup last season as they beat the Boston Bruins in seven games. The Capitals were the fifth highest-scoring team last season led by Alexander Ovechkin, the top goal scorer of the season. The Blues ranked fifteenth last season in goals scored. But with the emotions of banner night, I think we see a high-scoring, fast-paced game. Even with two of the top goalies in Braden Holtby and Jordan Binnington, I expect a lot of points on opening night.
My Lock of the Week: Auburn -3 at Florida
I think that Florida is the most overrated team in college football. That doesn’t take away from their impressive defense. Florida has 24 sacks on the season, headlined by Johnathan Greenard and Jabari Zuniga. On the flip side, Auburn has a very solid front seven. This game is going to come down to what offense makes the most plays. Expect Bo Nix to have his biggest game of the season and beat Florida 38-20.
Underdog(s) of the week: Browns +3.5 at 49ers
This week I only have one underdog that I like. I think that the Browns had a huge statement win over the Ravens last week. The offense finally started to gel, especially that offensive line. Baker Mayfield has been pretty meh to start the season but I think that this is his breakout game. The key to this game will be the Browns front seven pressuring Jimmy Garoppolo. Make him uncomfortable and throw the offense off and the Browns will walk away with a win Monday night.
Future Bet: Outright to win the World Series: Atlanta Braves +700
I have fallen in love with this team. I think the Dodgers are vulnerable this year. This young team headlined by Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies has the swagger and the young, raw talent to make a run at the World Series. I personally have the Braves defeating the Yankees in six games to win their first World Series since 1995.
