A full helping of games awaits us for Friday night. Make sure to pay close attention to lineup construction and news on potential capping of starting pitchers innings from here until Sunday. Many managers will rest players to close out the season if there is nothing left to gain. Bats to focus on will be the Bronx Bombers at Globe Life Stadium in Texas and the Brew Crew and the Rockies at Coors. Let’s party one more time kids (for the Regular Season anyway), let’s go Around the Horn!!
Nathan Eovaldi BOS $4,100
If we decide to go with the likely consensus number one starter Walker Buehler and go with Yankee, Brewers and Rockies bats we will have to pair up with a bottom tier starter. Two interesting starters to ponder over are Vince Velasquez($6,200) and Eovaldi. Eovaldi seems to finally be stretched out after being relegated to a cap of around four innings of work over a month ago. His recent starts have him between 75 and 100 pitches per outing. Eovaldi strikeout rate sits at 23.9% and the O’s strikeout almost at the same rate(23.2%) and are 23rd in baseball with 712 runs scored this season. $4.1K seems peculiar for a pitcher that does have upside against a weaker opponent, might as well pounce and see what happens.
DJ LeMahieu 2B/3B NYY $5,400
Gotta have my man D.J. on here one last time. The most consistent piece featured in this deadly lineup continues to hold his ground during this mini rough patch for Yankee hitters (Yankees are just 5-5 over their last 10 games). LeMahieu has quietly hit .298 for the month of September and will be too much for left-handed pitcher Joe Palumbo in this one. Check out LeMahieu’s numbers versus left-handed pitching this season: .380! and 10 bombs in 175 plate appearances.
Keston Hiura 2B MIL $5,600
Hiura, since returning from injury, hasn’t missed a beat. In 10 games this month he is leading the team in hitting with a .290 average. He has three homers, six runs, and six driven in during this span as well. Hiura offers upside in all categories (especially at Coors) which will increase chances of DK points.
Aaron Judge NYY $5,300
If the Rangers do in fact go to unproven starter Joe Palumbo in this one, the Yankees will be poised to smash. Palumbo has not lasted more than four innings in any of his six starts this season. His record sits at 0-2 with a disgusting 9.22 ERA. Once the Rangers go to the bullpen the Yankees will still be in good standing. Texas ranks 23rd in earned runs giving up by relief pitching this season with 317. Judge is hitting just .233 for the month of September but has seven taters and 17 runs scored in 20 games. Like LeMahieu, Judge feasts off of left-handed pitching, .343 with a 1.124 OPS over 122 plate appearances.
Garrett Hampson 2B/OF COL $4,300
Hampson has been on my radar for a while now and he continues to impress. In 19 games this month he is hitting .373 with five HR, 16 R, and nine steals. All of the homers and five of the nine steals have occurred over his last 11 games. Hampson has been given the green light to close out the season and his continued success will go a long way in ensuring him a lineup spot for next season.
Good luck to everyone tonight, keep grinding out those lineups!
