Hopefully, it was a fun-filled holiday Thursday for everyone and your lineups produced a return on your investment. On to Friday’s MLB slate of 13 games. Plenty of value to be found and a decent amount of good pitching options make for an interesting night of DFS. Grab your scorecards everybody, we’re going Around the Horn!
Masahiro Tanaka NYY $9,500
There are some good options for pitching today and any of the top six priced pitchers are viable options. deGrom and Verlander are the top two options and offer the safest floor but there is nothing wrong with saving a few hundred with a guy like Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka got shelled in London but so did almost every pitcher in that series. Tanaka will draw the hum-ho Tampa Bay Rays who have been scuffling a bit of late ranking 19th in baseball in runs with 143 since the first of June. They also have the 10th highest K rate at 24% during that span. Tanaka has handled the Rays extremely well this season going 2-0 in three starts with a minuscule 0.41 ERA and 23 K’s in 22 innings of work. He has also averaged a hefty 33.3 DK points per game against Tampa.
Adam Frazier PIT 2B $4,200
The Pittsburgh Pirates have surprisingly put together some solid offensive games of late and are worth targeting against Zach Davies and the Milwaukee Brewers. Since June 17th the Pirates have scored 84 runs(up until July 2nd) which ranks fourth in the league. Frazier’s first two games of this month have been easy pickings, nine knocks in 10 turns to the plate. Off of Davies, Frazier is 7-for-15 with a 1.200 OPS.
Yuli Gurriel HOU 1B $4,000
Gurrieri’s trip to Coors went really well: Three dingers in just two games. Before that, he was tearing it up pretty good too, within a 13 game block he had five homers, nine RBI, a .377 ISO, and a .464 wOBA. Gurriel, in 13 at-bats versus left-handed starter Andrew Heaney, has two big-flies.
Michael Conforto NYM $4,300
Although Conforto hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, just two hits in 21 at-bats heading into Wednesday’s action, he profiles well against struggling right-hander Vince Velasquez. Velasquez has given up at least three earned runs in four out of his last five starts and is nearing an ERA of 5.00 as it sits at 4.73 going into this start. He hasn’t picked up a victory since April 24th. Conforto is 6-for-14 with 3 HRs, 7 RBI, 7 Runs, and a 1.627 OPS lifetime against Velasquez.
Khris Davis OAK $3,800
It’s been a rough go for Japanese import Yusei Kikuchi this season, the Mariners starter has a 5.12 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP. The Athletics have a force in the middle of the order that will look to feast off the left-hander. Khris Davis has fared much better against left-handed pitching this season hitting 52 points higher than when matched up against righties. He also has seven homers in 32 games, conversely against righties he has nine in way more games(67). The BvP is just four at-bats, just one hit, but it cleared the fence. Take advantage of the discounted price here even though Davis has just recently been re-inserted into the lineup after a hand injury.
