LeBron James makes history in Lakers loss

Brendan Abban | February 27th, 2019

LeBron James makes history two times in the same night. James further solidified his case as one of the best all-around players in NBA history tonight. He became the first player in NBA history to rank top-10 in assists and points.

James’ 11 assists were enough to break his tie with Andre Miller to move into the 10th spot on the list. His next goal challenge will be to pass Gary Payton in the ninth spot. He also ranks fifth all-time in scoring which is a testament to his versatility.  James’ newest achievement came in impressive fashion via a 24-11-12 triple-double.

His triple-double tonight marks another historical record. James moves into the fifth spot past Wilt Chamberlain for the most triple-doubles in NBA history. Unfortunately, James’ historical night was soiled by the Los Angeles Lakers second straight loss.

This is the Lakers second straight loss to a team under .500 with more incentive to lose than to win. The Lakers will need more virtuoso performances from James if they are going to complete this late playoff push.

A James led team has not missed the playoffs dating back to his second year in the NBA.  The Lakers are sitting at 11th in the Western Conference with 22 games left.

LeBron will continue to move up lists and will be taking over spots ahead of the best that ever played. The question is, can he bring the Los Angeles Lakers a title like he did for the Heat and Cavs?
